This “Word Play Workshop” will actually be easy and fun as it will give you techniques that you will be able to draw on in the future. When we will be playing in our workshop … we will be creating an experience (for YOU) of being a highly skilled writer … that you will be able to take away with you! If you look at “Words” as “Concept Seeds” … that idea can let us convey thoughts in the form of “Gardens”!If you look at “Adjectives” as “Firing Cap Words” … and … “Verbs” as “Detonating Words” … those ideas can let us convey thoughts with “Power”.
You do not need to bring any supplies … just yourself … any “Concept Seeds” you would like to “Plant”.

A reception will follow the play.
Director’s Note:
Welcome to the Red Poppy Drama Club’s first production, “Cathleen Ni Houlihan” By William Butler Yeats.
Yeats’ one-act play “Cathleen Ni Houlihan” was first performed on April 2 1902 in Dublin Ireland to very enthusiastic audiences.Yeats, an unapologetic Irish Nationalist wrote the play as a tribute to the events of August 22, 1798 in the Irish village of Killala, where French troops landed to support Irish rebels against pro-England wealthy landowners.
Essentially, “Cathleen Ni Houlihan” was propagandist drama written for Yeats’ own Irish National Theater.I believe the message of this play is more complicated today though. After our first reading of the play some cast members expressed sadness over the ending. This is a much different reaction than Yeats intended. However, in the over 100 years since it’s inception we’ve had two world wars, several politically motivated conflicts and death on a scale I doubt Yeats could have imagined.
Regardless of the play’s political motives, “Cathleen” is full of song and imagery, Irish folklore, a compelling message, and six Montanans attempting Irish accents.
Please enjoy the Red Poppy Drama Club’s production of “Cathleen Ni Houlihan!”
